Fabric's here! Plus, some sneak peeks at some side quests, silliness, and future scrub caps!
Share
Hey everyone! I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on your orders (as of 4/21/26) and share a little of what's been going on behind the scenes while I've been waiting for this fabric to make its way over to me (it's a package that's a total of 55 yards of fabric and weighs a whopping 11.2 pounds (~5 kg for you Canadians tuning in).
📦 Order Update
The large fabric order we placed for everyone arrived today! Yes, one of the fabrics came in a literal roll because I ordered so much of it. I'll be slowly diving straight into tracing and cutting, then sewing, and finally getting everything packed up and shipped out to you, most likely after my impromptu stint of nights. Due to the large volume of orders and the fact that I'm a resident, this tends to take me a few months. I truly appreciate your patience — it's really just me out here doing all these steps (and writing this while on nights!).

🎬 Behind the Scenes
While waiting for the fabric, I've been up to some shenanigans, as one does. Here's a little peek at what I've been up to:
-
Lanyards — One of my followers mentioned that they don't wear scrub caps (they're a neurologist), but they would wear lanyards! As a proof of concept, I harvested the hardware off of an old one (who doesn't have a pile of lanyards from all the conferences you've been to) and added one of the ties I had leftover from my last batch of scrub caps. Let me know how I did!

-
Drawstring Bags — Learning how to make a drawstring bag was an experience but once I figured it out, it wasn't terrible. My tracing of the fabric for scrub caps is already fairly efficient but I was trying to find something to do with my leftover squares and this seems to be a useful solution. Maybe I can use them for some sort of PR pouch or gifts?

-
New Packaging — I thought I had ordered a lot of shipping bags but I ran out right around the time after my last batch of scrub caps finished. Here's my newly designed packaging!

-
Donut Hole Doodles — This is a bit of a niche reference, but those of you anesthesia colleagues will know about the donut holes we discard for the head pillows for our patients. I turn that trash into treasure and here are some of my creations!

-
Some Analog pattern design: I was playing with the medication labels we use and came up with a concept for a future design (I'll have to be much more precise to turn this into fabric but it's a proof of concept!

🦢 Sneak Peek: Meet the Esophagoose
Here's a preview of a brand new design I've been working on called the Esophagoose! Sometimes we say that people "tube the goose" or "goosed the tube" and it's referring to placing the endotracheal tube into the esophagus instead of the trachea. It's ripe for a pun and so I ran with it. There are three colorways and I'm most likely going to make scrub caps out of one of the colors--most likely the teal but maybe I'll run a poll once I'm closer to that to see what the people want to see.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you so much for your support. I'll try to keep you posted on my scrub cap making once my fabric lands in my hands!
